This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Pittsburgh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Food is really good and the owner is nice. The beef pho is super awesome and much cheaper than every other place in pittsburgh. Literally just bring cash and there’s nothing to complain about. I go here all the time and they never disappoint, so I couldn’t care less if it doesn’t seem like they’re attentive to from other people’s perspectives. Just ask for whatever you need and it’ll be done, overall a great restaurant to pick for Vietnamese food!

I always forget to take photos because it’s truly so good we can’t wait to eat. I love Tram’s. We have gotten it there and to go and both are equally delicious. We love to start with the fresh spring rolls. They have pork and shrimp, taste so fresh, and come with the tastiest dipping sauce. The bahn mi pork sandwich is underrated. It’s not on their actual menu, only a sign in the window, but it’s under $9 and completely fresh and delicious. My go to is the beef pho soup. I saw a few comments that it wasn’t flavorful, but this soup is incredible. I do recommend flavoring it with the toppings they give you (cilantro and sprouts) and adding hoisin from the table and their homemade chili sauce. You will keep going back to drink more broth it’s so good! My husband enjoys the pork curry as it’s very rich, flavorful, and authentic. The service can be slow at times, but I’d much rather prefer that and amazing food than the opposite. I think the lower/negative reviews here don’t know where they went to eat, and the fault is their own (add stuff to your pho people) not the restaurants. Tram’s is delicious, authentic, and a hidden gem in the city.

I had high expectations at first based on the reviews, but unfortunately the experience didn’t live up to them. Our waiter seemed more focused on watching TV and never checked on our table. The service felt inattentive. The food was just average and lacked the rich flavor that a good bowl of pho should have.

Very delicious. I love the broken rice and the broths. The shrimp was super fresh. I also got the banana dessert which came smothered in coconut milk and was pleasantly surprising. The banh mi sandwiches is such a good deal, under $10 and super flavorful and filling.

Since I moved from San Jose, CA, fifteen years ago, Tram's has been my #1 Vietnamese food restaurant here in Pittsburgh. If you want a better one, you have to visit one on Tully Rd. in San Jose, CA.
